Day-by-day itinerary
- Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu Pickup at 07:00. North past Mount Kenya, about 6 hours to Samburu National Reserve. Afternoon game drive along the Ewaso Nyiro river.
- Day 2: Full day in Samburu Morning and afternoon drives for the Samburu Special Five: Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx and gerenuk.
- Day 3: Samburu to Ol Pejeta About 2.5 hours to Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Afternoon drive for rhino, then the chimpanzee sanctuary.
- Day 4: Ol Pejeta to Lake Nakuru Morning drive, cross the equator at Nanyuki, about 4 hours to Lake Nakuru. Afternoon drive along the flamingo shore.
- Day 5: Lake Nakuru to the Maasai Mara Early drive in the rhino sanctuary, then about 5 to 6 hours to the Mara. Evening game drive.
- Day 6: Full day in the Maasai Mara Out at 06:30 with picnic breakfast and lunch. Lion, cheetah and the Mara River.
- Day 7: Maasai Mara to Nairobi Sunrise drive, breakfast, depart. Drop-off in Nairobi around 17:00.

Ol Pejeta
Black and white rhino, the chimpanzee sanctuary, lion and the Big Five on the Laikipia plateau under Mount Kenya.
Lake Nakuru
White and black rhino inside a fenced sanctuary, Rothschild giraffe, lion, buffalo, and pink flamingos and pelicans along the shore.
Maasai Mara
Lion prides, cheetah on the open plain, leopard along the Talek and Mara rivers, elephant, buffalo, hippo and crocodile. From July to October the wildebeest and zebra herds of the Great Migration graze the reserve.
Best time to go
June to October and December to March are dry, with animals gathered at the rivers in Samburu. Add migration months for the Mara.
